Little info about the magnificient region:
Cabo Corrientes marks the southern most part of the Bay of Banderas, the second largest bay in the world. A historic lighthouse on the point guides northbound ships on their way to port in Puerto Vallarta.

Numerous flora and fauna can be found, specifically five different types of sea turtles who nest along its expansive beaches. Whales and orcas arrive during the months of November thru March and dolphins are easily spotted from shore year round.

The capital of El Tuito, whose name comes from the ancient Nahua word "Teotl" meaning God, and "Tuitlán" meaning place of the Gods, is truly a divine place of beauty. Long before the arrival of the Spanish, this established city was governed by the Xalisco king Huetlatoanazgo and in 1525 the area became occupied by the Spanish explorer Francisco Cortéz de San Buenaventura who founded Puerto Vallarta.

With a population of 10,000, the municipality of Cabo Corrientes is one of the last great sanctuaries on the Pacific Coast. Under two hours south of Puerto Vallarta by car, and hour and a half by high speed boat or 5 minutes by airplane, residents are close enough to the major city of Vallarta and all the tourist developments, yet far enough to truly enjoy the serenity of pristine nature.
